"moon"不是“月亮”？涨知识啦！
The Moon has no moons.
直译成“月亮没有月亮”，显然有点奇怪。
但是moon有时候可不是“月亮”的意思
The Moon has no moons.
要译成：月球没有卫星。
但谈到其他星球的卫星时，就可以用moon表示卫星，当然也可以直接说natural satellite（自然卫星），例如：Mars moons 火星卫星
Earth's only natural satellite is simply called "the Moon" because people didn't know other moons existed until Galileo Galilei discovered four moons orbiting Jupiter in 1610.
One more question：
为什么moon会有“卫星”的含义呢？
可以这么理解：the moon 月球/月亮，本质上就是一颗自然卫星（natural satellite），是我们先辈发现的第一颗卫星。
后来，伽利略于16发现，木星（Jupiter）竟然也有卫星，和月球的形态相似，那干脆也叫moon算了。
地球唯一的天然卫星被简单地称为“月球”，因为直到16伽利略发现了环绕木星运行的四个卫星，人们才知道其他卫星的存在。
同理，the sun最初指的是太阳，而太阳本质上是一种恒星，后来人们便用sun来形容其他恒星。

Oh, little prince! Bit by bit I came to understand the secrets of your sad little life... For a long time you had found your only entertainment in the quiet pleasure of looking at the sunset. I learned that new detail on the morning of the fourth day, when you said to me, “I am very fond of sunsets. Come, let us go look at a sunset now.”
“But we must wait,” I said.
“Wait? For what?”
“For the sunset. We must wait until it is time.”
At first you seemed to be very much surprised. And then you laughed to yourself. You said to me:
“I am always thinking that I am at home!”
Just so. Everybody knows that when it is noon in the United States the sun is setting over France. If you could fly to France in one minute, you could go straight into the sunset, right from noon. Unfortunately, France is too far away for that. But on your tiny planet, my little prince, all you need do is move your chair a few steps. You can see the day end and the twilight falling whenever you like.
“One day,” you said to me, “I saw the sunset forty-four times!”
And a little later you added, “You know—one loves the sunset, when one is so sad...”
“Were you so sad, then?” I asked, “on the day of the forty-four times of sunsets?”
But the little prince made no reply.
