家庭伦理调整家庭成员之间关系的行为规范或准则，是社会伦理道德的组成部分。又称家庭道德。家庭伦理的特征大体可归纳为：①它是一个历史范畴，时代不同，家庭伦理观念也不尽相同；②在阶级社会中，一定的家庭伦理受一定的阶级利益的影响；③任何一种家庭伦理都是在批判和继承旧的家庭伦理基础上发展起来的；④家庭伦理决定于一定社会生产方式的发展，但又不总是与这种生产方式的发展相适应，它具有相对独立性。在中国封建社会中，人与人之间关系有君臣、父子、夫妇、兄弟、朋友"五伦"之说，其中父子、夫妇、兄弟"三伦"就属于家庭伦理范围。现代中国,家庭伦理主要包括:①男女婚姻自由。包括结婚自由和离婚自由。结婚自由表现为男女双方对婚姻的自主权和决定权；离婚自由是对结婚自由的必要补充，是指在夫妻感情确已破裂，家庭生活不能维持的前提下，当事人对处理夫妻关系所具有的自主权和决定权。②一夫一妻。实行建立在男女婚姻自由基础上的一夫一妻制,是家庭生活幸福美满的保证,也是对婚姻家庭关系的基本要求。在中国，通奸、卖淫、重婚或变相一夫多妻、一妻多夫都是非法的、不道德的。③男女平等。男女平等的要求是多方面的,主要包括两个方面:一是夫妻关系平等。在家庭关系中,夫妻关系是核心,夫妻之间的平等地位，对家庭伦理道德的实现具有决定的意义；二是生育和抚养子女中的男女平等。重男轻女、歧视以至残害女婴、歧视生女孩的妇女等现象都是不道德的行为和观念。④保护妇女、儿童和老人的合法权益。虐待妇女、遗弃妻子、侮辱玩弄女性的行为都是不道德的；抚养和教育子女，是每一个父母都必须承担的法律义务和道德责任；子女赡养自己的父母，无论从感情上还是道义上也都是义不容辞的。⑤计划生育。这是新形势下家庭伦理对家庭关系的新要求。在当前中国特定的历史条件下，家庭中由夫妻双方履行计划生育的义务，具有重大的道德意义。
